Corrosion Protection & Coating

Corrosion Protection & Industrial Coating

From sandblasting to the finished protective layer: we protect components, pipelines, concrete surfaces and vessels against corrosion, abrasion, chemicals and moisture – on site and as a certified specialist company under the German Water Resources Act (WHG) and AwSV ordinance.

Protection for heavily stressed surfaces

Wear on plant and machinery can bring production to a standstill. Early protection against corrosion and erosion is therefore almost always cheaper than repairing the damage later. Depending on the application, we prepare surfaces, blast them, build them up and coat or rubber-line them – tailored to the component, the load and the environment.

Our coating systems are suitable for metal, concrete and wood and protect against corrosion, abrasion, chemicals and extreme weather. This reduces maintenance and replacement costs and significantly extends the service life of your plant.

Coatings under WHG and AwSV

As a certified specialist company under WHG/AwSV, we are authorised to carry out work on facilities handling water-hazardous substances. This includes surfaces, joints, bases, tanks and vessels that must be permanently protected against moisture, exposure to media and water-hazardous substances – from tank rehabilitation and surface coating to technical modifications.

Concrete repair

Cracks, spalling and corrosion damage in concrete jeopardise the safety of structures in the long term. We repair concrete surfaces – including in sensitive areas under AwSV and WHG – and create a suitable surface for protection or coating.

Applications

Coating systems & applications

Polyurethane & polyurea lining

Sprayable, elastic protective layers against abrasion, water and media.

Wear protection

Highly abrasion-resistant coatings for heavily stressed components.

Steel-ceramic coating

Extremely impact-resistant protective layer for mechanically stressed surfaces.

Chemical-resistant coating

For example, internal coating of CuNiFe tubes in heat exchangers.

Ceramic high-temperature coating

Protection against thermal and mechanical stress, for example in drying ovens.

Rubber lining of pipe bends

Internal protection for bends exposed to solids and flow stress.

Non-stick & anti-slip coating

Less build-up in pipes, better slip resistance on surfaces.

Erosion protection in hydraulic engineering

Surface protection for lock components after erosion damage.

Concrete repair under WHG/AwSV

Repair of concrete surfaces in areas handling water-hazardous substances.

Frequently asked questions

FAQ: Corrosion Protection & Coating

Which coating is right for my component?

That depends on what the component needs protecting against – corrosion, abrasion, impact, chemicals or temperature – and on the substrate being coated. After a condition assessment, we recommend the appropriate system.

What does certified specialist company under WHG/AwSV mean?

Under the AwSV, facilities handling water-hazardous substances may in many cases only be installed, repaired and cleaned by certified specialist companies. DSM is certified as such a specialist company.

Do you also apply coatings on site?

Yes. From sandblasting to the finished coating, we carry out the work directly at your plant. Smaller components can also be coated in our workshop.

Can concrete surfaces in containment and filling areas be repaired?

Yes. We repair concrete surfaces in areas handling water-hazardous substances in accordance with AwSV and WHG and create a suitable surface for protection or coating.
