Piping & pipeline maintenance
Field coating to DVGW GW 15, composite repair of weakened pipelines, flange sealing and non-destructive holiday testing – professionally carried out, directly at your plant.

Protect, reinforce and seal pipelines
Pipelines are permanently exposed to corrosion, moisture, mechanical stress and changing ambient conditions. Damaged coatings, exposed pipe sections or weakened areas of pipeline must be professionally protected and repaired – with suitable materials, trained personnel and clean execution on site.
Field coating to DVGW GW 15
Factory-coated pipes, fittings and valves require field coating on site at joints and defects. DSM carries out this work in accordance with DVGW worksheet GW 15. The minimum requirements for coating materials for buried and submerged pipelines are set out in DIN 30672 and DIN EN 12068; we use only DIN/DVGW-registered systems.
Composite Pipe Repair without hot work
We repair weakened or damaged pipelines with wrapping and repair systems to ISO 24817. They restore mechanical integrity, protect against corrosion and require neither welding nor heat input – ideal for areas where hot work is not possible. The systems are also suitable for tanks, pumps and bridge piers.
Flange sealing
Flange connections are critical points in any piping system. We seal them professionally so that they remain reliably tight even under pressure, temperature fluctuations and with gases, chemicals or hot media.
Non-destructive holiday testing up to 25 kV
We use high voltage to check whether a coating is truly free of defects: holiday testing reveals defects before they become a starting point for corrosion. Pipes from DN 50 to DN 1600 can be tested in a single pass – even with dirty or damp surfaces.
Typical damage and tasks
Defective factory coating
Professionally supplement and close damaged factory coatings.
Defective bitumen coating
Repair or replace old bitumen coatings.
Joints & fittings
Coat uncoated welds, fittings and valves.
Weakened pipeline sections
Restore mechanical integrity with composite wraps.
Pitting corrosion
Permanently seal corroded cooling water and process lines.
Lack of mechanical protection
Protect coatings against stone impact and damage.

FAQ: Pipeline Maintenance
What does field coating to DVGW GW 15 mean?
DVGW worksheet GW 15 governs the field coating of pipes, valves and fittings on site – i.e. where the factory coating is missing or damaged. It sets requirements for the material, the execution and the qualification of the personnel.
What is Composite Pipe Repair?
In Composite Pipe Repair, a damaged or weakened pipeline is wrapped with fibre-reinforced wrapping systems. The repair restores mechanical strength and at the same time protects against corrosion – without welding and without heat input.
Does the pipeline have to be taken out of service for the repair?
That depends on the damage, the medium and the system used. We clarify with you in advance whether and for how long the pipeline needs to be depressurised, and plan the work accordingly.
How is the quality of the coating tested?
With non-destructive high-voltage holiday testing up to 25 kV. This reveals pores and defects in the coating. Pipes from DN 50 to DN 1600 can be tested in a single pass.
